The main activity of the CCS-Africa project was to hold two regional workshops, focussing on CCS and CDM in African countries. They were held in September 2007, in Dakar (Senegal) and Gaborone (Botswana). Each workshop attracted some 70 participants from governments, nongovernmental organisations and the private sector, from approximately 25 African countries.
This report aims to give an overview of the outcomes of the workshops. Chapter 2, 3 and 4, respectively, will summarise the presentations and discussion on the areas of climate change mitigation,CCS, and CDM in Africa. Chapter 5 will discuss the two prevailing questions in the workshops: how to boost CDM in Africa, and what is the relevance of CCS for Africa.
